Stay original! Choose the genuine Electroware Atari 8-bit PSU – a proven safe replacement power supply trusted by the global retro community.
Original Atari 8-bit power supplies are now more than 40 years old. Many still work, but time has not been kind to them. Aging capacitors, drifting voltages, poor filtering and failing insulation can turn an original PSU into a real threat for your Atari 600XL, 800XL, 65XE, 130XE, 800XE or disk drive. Just like with Commodore power supplies, a failing Atari PSU can damage valuable ICs, RAM chips and custom logic.
Today, fully working Atari computers are becoming harder to find and more expensive to replace. Protecting them with a safe, modern replacement PSU is one of the best investments any retro user can make. Our mission is simple – keep classic Atari hardware running safely for many more years.
Back in the 1980s, Atari vs Commodore was almost a holy war.
Atari 8-bit and Commodore 64 users spent years arguing which machine was better: graphics, sound, games, keyboard or BASIC. Back then, those discussions felt very serious. Today, most retro enthusiasts realize that both platforms were special in their own way. The Commodore 64 had the legendary SID sound, a huge game library and that unmistakable beige breadbox design. Atari 8-bit computers offered elegant styling, excellent keyboards, fast disk drives, smooth graphics and a more “professional” feel.
As a kid, I had a Commodore 64 and never owned an Atari. Years later, I finally bought several Atari systems and discovered them from a completely different perspective. Atari computers are beautiful machines and some games genuinely look better than on the C64 – Zaxxon is a great example. Of course, I still believe the SID sound of the Commodore 64 is in a different league. But after all these years, the rivalry no longer matters. Both Atari and Commodore have their own unique charm and both deserve to survive. The goal today is not to argue which one was better, but to preserve both safely for future generations.
The Electroware Atari 8-bit PSU delivers clean, filtered and stabilized 5V DC powered by industrial-grade AC/DC modules. All electronics are housed in a compact, lightweight and durable enclosure with professional molding, mechanical protection and full electrical isolation. The PSU is based on the same proven protection architecture trusted by thousands of Commodore users worldwide.
Many Atari users are returning to real hardware today – loading games from cartridges, using SIO2SD devices, connecting floppy drives, restoring old systems and rediscovering what made Atari special. It is history. It is legend. Let it last safely.

Yes, you can find generic Atari replacement adapters online for 15–20 EUR. In most cases, however, these are universal wall adapters with a modified plug and no dedicated protection features. Such units are often poorly regulated, lack surge protection and may not maintain stable voltage under real Atari load conditions.
Some cheap adapters may measure 5V with no load connected, but voltage can drop too low or spike too high when the Atari actually starts working. This is especially risky with expanded systems, memory upgrades, SIO devices, cartridges or floppy drives connected. Saving a few euros is simply not worth the risk when the computer itself is becoming more valuable every year.
For over a decade, Electroware has continuously developed and refined its power supplies based on direct feedback from retro users worldwide. Our Atari PSU benefits from everything we learned while designing safe Commodore power supplies – stable voltage regulation, real-world testing, strong protections and repairable construction.
Unlike unsafe generic adapters and low-cost imitations, the genuine Electroware PSU delivers verified safety features, consistent quality and reliable long-term performance – because your Atari hardware deserves professional protection.

Risk of electrical shock and fire hazard when opened. All repairs must be performed by qualified technicians. Ventilation holes must remain unobstructed. Indoor use only; keep away from dust, moisture and heat sources. Output current and wattage must not exceed rated values.
This replacement Atari 8-bit PSU is designed exclusively for compatible Atari systems. Do not use with other devices unless supported by an optional dedicated output cable. While a modern PSU significantly reduces power-related failure risk, it cannot guarantee the correct operation of 40-year-old hardware.
